New Career Path

Being in a B school means listening to never ending lectures and when you are tired of them, then there are more lectures. You also have those special sessions to attend by some guest speaker or by your own DG [director general, well there are other names as well which abbreviates as DG in the college, but I don’t think it is the right place to talk about them].

The Mummy. . .

The first mummy movie was a new experience, which alongwith action; adventure also provided the spine chilling moments of fear. The second instalment [which in very exceptional cases beats the first one] was definitely far below the previous one, but still was fun to watch. But the third in the series is definitely a big let down to a great start. It is still the same clay and sand movie, The same hunger for the power, same love triangle, same undead armies, same guarding clan and off course if it is Chinese then the point to talk about is definitely immortality [God knows what is Hollywood’s obsession with China and the immortality pill].

Dramatic 22nd July

The 22nd of July was the ‘D’ Day for the government about which so many speculations were being made. After the dramatic fall of Vajpayee government by one vote, this was the first time when the government faced the no confidence motion. Like last time, everyone was expecting a close finish, and another dramatic result. Although the finish was not that close enough, but yes the day was dramatic.

The Dark Knight. . .

I watched Batman Begins and the wait for The Dark Knight Began. Everyone was talking about it from the day it went on floor. It released with the hype of Ledger’s lifetime performance. So much was expected from it and to tell you the truth the movie does lives upto the expectations. Yes Batman just got bigger and better. All the talk about Ledger is true. It became more realistic, a characteristic which Batman movies [before Batman Begins] totally lacked. The out of the league start with Batman Begins has been taken to the next level.

The Odd Hour Affair. . .

It’s been a long time since I wrote a post sitting at this hour of night [1:05 a.m.]. Initially many were born and brought up at the odd hours of night, but lately most of the writing was taking place in the day time only. Personally speaking, I like this time a lot, especially when I gotta write something. My affair with writing at night started when I was in 11th standard. At that time I used to write my practical files. Well practically it was copying from someone else’s file. As my mom never liked the idea of copying, doesn’t matter even if it was a practical file, so I used to write it at this hour when everyone was asleep.

OBC- Occupational Behavioural Character

People are greatly affected by their occupations. The work which occupies 8 hours of their day officially [and almost 24 hours unofficially] is bound to affect their behaviour, thinking, actions [voluntary and involuntary] what they talk about, their likes-dislikes, even the diseases from which they suffer are also greatly influenced by their occupation [the occupational diseases]. In a nut shell from anything to almost everything which is part of one’s life is affected by his/her profession.

Via Darjeeling? At your own risk…

Discussing an unsolved mystery and drawing too many conclusions about nothing can be fun sometimes, especially when you are just chilling with friends on a dark rainy night with nothing much to do. Well this is the concept of ‘Via Darjeeling’ and frankly it was the concept only which took me to watch the movie, especially on a lazy Sunday afternoon. But to my dismay [and God knows whose delight?] only the concept turned out to be interesting.

Indiana Jones. . .

????????Before I watched Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of Crystal Skull, my knowledge about the series was just limited to it being an adventure series and one of the movie stars Amrish Puri. As I have not watched the earlier 3, so comparing this instalment with the previous one is not possible for me. So let us talk about this one only and keep aside the pre-conceived notions about the series.

Taming the ‘K-line’

The condition of public transport needs no introduction. Everyone knows the truth about their condition and how much useful they prove to be in solving their purpose. It is hard to say if with time, the condition is improving or deteriorating. Although introduction of ‘Metro’ did provided the much needed relief, but in front of Delhi’s growing population it is turning out to be a case of too little too late. The increasing traffic on the roads, never ending jams, long wait at the red lights, the ever green ‘K-lines’ alongwith errant DTC and what not, when it comes to commuting the city of flyovers is really flying above all. But instead of all the traffic and commuting problem am only interested in the age old Delhi Transport Corporation – DTC.

Why I love Rains?

Rains are a part of the large weather cycle which we have in India and Delhi particularly. Due to the distance from sea we experience extreme continental climate in the national capital, varying with five seasons- summers, monsoon, autumn, winters and spring. Today in the morning all of a sudden the day from sunny changed to cloudy. It was a pleasant surprise to see a thick cloud cover on a bright sunny day, with cool and fast wind blowing. Sometime after it started to rain, first slowly and then a real downpour which is nowadays rare even during the monsoon. There is something very special about rainy days and monsoon. This is particularly my favourite season, and this unscheduled rainfall provided me with a reason to write a post on rains which was overdue for a long time [as long time back I was provided with the idea of writing a post about rains and what is special about them by a smarty]. Getting a new Passport

Government offices [GO’s] are a place where no one wants to go, but unfortunately more often than not everyone has to go there. It is like a necessary evil, without which surviving in this country is impossible and with them it is a nightmare. During the odd 21 years of my life, I have had my share of stint with the GO’s and take my word the visit there have never been pleasant. Why I am saying all this, because very recently I had another such visit to the passport office situated behind Hyatt Regency.

Iron Man. . .

The whole point of super heroes with extraordinary powers from some unexplainable reasons like biting of genetically modified insect, or because they are alien or mutants by birth or because they were caught in some radioactive storm, is pointless. Due to this reason only am not of a big superhero saga fan. But this doesn’t mean I have something personal against them. I do like the ones where ordinary men does extraordinary things [with personal skills or help from technology] to become a superhero. This makes me an admirer of Batman and now the list also have Iron man in it.

The Eye. . .

The most interesting thing which I found in the whole movie is its poster, of a huge human eye and a hand gripping it from inside. Actually the movie is not that bad either and with a runtime of something above 90 minutes it is a mediocre movie. Although I haven’t seen the original 2002 Hong Kong version of ‘The Eye’ but I think it must be doing the justice to the original.
