Maya at Her Best

The countdown for the Lok Sabha elections can begin anytime and like the recent past any single party winning a clear majority is not possible. The coalition politics will play an important role in the power game and whose equation sets with whom, will decide about the future prime minister. All the parties are well aware of the reality and hence they have already started gearing up for them.

New Year; New Beginning

This is the first post which I am posting in the new year so first of all happy new year to all [well I know it is a little late]. The delay in my making a post is not because I was too busy in my New Year celebrations, and had no time to make one. But because of the fact that this will be the first post of year 2008, so I was simply short of ideas about the subject. It is not that I was totally blank, infact I had a few plots but none of them materialized. So one might be wondering as to what the subject of this New Year post is, which almost took me 2 weeks to write. I think we will soon figure it out.

The Advani Code

Gujarat elections are over and all the fuss which they created has almost died. The talks about Modi’s future role are on a hold for a time being. The debates on the statements which were made during the campaigning are over. The discussion on Advani’s statement ‘This is a turning point of Indian politics’ is lost somewhere. But this statement is very much here and still a lot can be talked about it.

‘The Result’ of ‘The Result’

Come this time tomorrow, and the result of one of the most watched out election in the history of Bharat, will be out in open. Tomorrow is the day when not only the fate of all the candidates, but also how the things will be like in the future Indian politics will be clear. The mammoth publicity which Gujarat election received was mainly because of one man i.e. Modi. In true sense these elections were not between any two parties, but they were between Modi and the media.

Leg-End Legend

Will Smith racing in a sports car with his dog, on the deserted New York streets. No he is not flashing it for the girls to notice; neither is he part of any street racing gang.

He is out there with his sniper rifle, not following any terrorist to hunt him down but trying to a catch a deer or two (it can be a reindeer also, can’t say for sure). If you were wondering what the future will be like, then ‘I am Legend’ is certainly not the place to look out for.

A Campaign Lost

The polling for the Gujarat elections is complete and the verdict which is right now closed in the voting machines will be out soon. The campaigning for the elections which started with a new mild Modi, talking about the development and an over charged congress ready to take him down, changed drastically during the course of elections.

Wedding Season Again

It is the wedding season again. Everyday hundreds and thousands of people are tying the holy knot of matrimony. Day by day this once in a lifetime affair is becoming bigger and grander. People are ready to go to any limits for making it memorable and the big fat Indian wedding has truly come of age. Wedding season in India is full of enthusiasm, fun, frolic and not to forget those sleepless nights [spend by the bride and groom in you know what, and by the relatives in celebrations].

According to a ‘Recent Study’

Surveys and researches are flavour of the season right now. Every month, every week, everyday a new study or survey is published in some magazine or journal. Generally the topic of these studies are okay types, but more often than not these are really very naive and surprisingly immature to the heights that one wonders, what prompted the doctor [as no one with less than a doctorate dares to accomplish these studies] to do it?

Remember-Remember, the CAT November

So this it! All the hoo-halaa and fuss died today. For almost a year now students all over the country were waiting for this ‘D-Day’ and then all of a sudden it all got over in just two and a half hours (technically 3). Today over 2.25 lac students appeared for, what can be called as the most anticipated exam of the country, CAT. Continue reading “Remember-Remember, the CAT November”

Gujarat’s History of Violence

After 90 years of grave struggle against the oppression and tyranny we gained independence. In addition to all the fight back, violent and non violent and sacrifice of numerous lives there was an ultimate price which we had to pay for our independence i.e. partition and the sad news of partition did not come alone, but along came riots.

How Was Your Diwali?

Diwali is one of the biggest festivals of Bharat. Whole country was lit up and everyone was in a juvenile mood. The enthusiasm and excitement with which it is celebrated is unmatched and exorbitant. And why not? After all in this land of festivals there is more than one reason to celebrate this festival. In different parts of the country the festival is celebrated in a unique way, owing to a unique reason (but am not here to discuss the plethora of history and mythology associated with it, like any other Bharatiya festival). But there is one common thing which we all come across during the festival (rather it is after the festival) and that is the question “how was your Diwali?” Continue reading “How Was Your Diwali?”

IPC

Last week I received courts summon. The charges which it showed (although I could hardly interpretate the IPC section which it showed) but one thing which I realised was that, they were neither the common section 302 and 304 (used in cases of culpable homicide, this knowledge courtesy over dramatic court room scenes of Hindi flicks) nor those of over speeding and red light jumping. But something a little rare of stopping beyond the stop line at the red light. Well I guess it would have been better if I had jumped the red light, as then the cop might have missed out my car’s registration number. Well but that’s another possibility. Continue reading “IPC”

Gujarat’s ‘New’ Big Bang

With a bang, Tehelka came up with its sting on Gujarat riots and with a bigger bang two news channels gave it a prime time slot. Well the banging did not stop here, in fact it was just the beginning, and what followed was banging of every ones head, in order to get something out of this new big bang. Proof of Life!!!

United Nations recently declared the birth day of Mahatma Gandhi as the international non violence day. From this year onwards 2nd October will no longer be only a Bharatiya holiday, but it will also remind the world of the principals for which the whole mankind should stand, the direction in which everyone should work and the ultimate goal which we all long to attain; non violence.
